Tonnage
J. Bartell – Guitar / Vocals Dave Ott – Bass Jeff Moen – Drums
Twin Cities’ noise rock trio TONNAGE has steadily built a following across the Midwest with their heavy riffs and intense live performances. With the band’s fourth release, The Swell, engineer Adam Tucker (Countach, The Crinn and Bastard Saint, among others) succeeded in capturing the band’s raw energy resulting in nine tracks of crushing brutality – the most accurate portrayal of their live sound to date. Recorded in April 2007, The Swell is the band’s third release on Round 13 Records, a label cooperative they formed in 2004 as a vehicle for promoting their previous efforts (The Fujita Scale and The Panzram Session).
TONNAGE has shared the stage with such artists as Weedeater, Minsk, Bloodcow, Chariots, Droids Attack, The Deaf and many others. The band performs extensively both locally and regionally, likening their sound to that associated with Amphetamine Reptile Records in the mid-1990s. Unsane, Helmet, Hammerhead, Guzzard and the Melvins were huge influences on TONNAGE during their formative years.

Excerpts from recent press:
“These guys have a somber and moody down-tempo hardcore sound, wrought from the loins of such bands as Helmet and Unsane, with rage-filled rhythms and doom-ridden, hard-edged vocals.”
- Madhouse Monthly (July 2007)
“It takes a certain kind of music lover to appreciate the music TONNAGE creates since it is abrasive, noisy and loud. Thankfully for TONNAGE, there are plenty of music fans who prefer those qualities in music.”
- Rift Magazine (November 2006)
