20 Dollar Love

20 Dollar Love sweats Rock & Roll. They play raunchy, blues soaked, punk rock boogie, that can entice even the most prudish of music listeners to shake a pair (butt cheeks that is) on the dance floor. With an arsenal of riffs paying homage to the likes of Ted Nugent, The MC5, The Stooges, Cactus, and ZZ Top, 20 Dollar Love’s music harkens back to a simpler time. When people made music for music’s sake, where rock ruled, and when music was dangerous.

Andy Green, and brothers Nate, and Ben Pischke have been together in one way or another since 1996. The group went through different singers, names, and even an organist before deciding to forge ahead in 2004 as a power trio. Their debut recording “Sex Rock Heroes” was released on Round13Records in 2006. The album was well received by critics, and paved the way for a two year stint of small tours, making their way from their hometown of Burnsville Minnesota, to Chicago IL, Austin TX, and Madison WI. Between then and now 20 Dollar Love released a now out of print ep: “Rock & Roll till You Shit Your Pants”, and had two tracks featured on the Round13Records compilation “The Land of Misfit Bands: Volume I”. 2009 sees the band making their first trip to SXSW, and releasing their second proper CD with Crustacean records.

When 20 Dollar Love comes to your town (and they will), be prepared to boogie. For in their travels they’ve never met a bar they didn’t like, and a crowd they couldn’t push onto, and off of, the highway to the danger zone.

Sometimes when hard rock bands stretch into the prog rock deal it dilutes the real meaning behind rock and roll. 20 Dollar Love, don’t play it fancy or try to hard to find the most complex guitar and bass passage, they play it real. Hard rock with grit and determination. If your looking to have a good time, drink some beers and shake your fist a bit they are perfect.–Rich Horton, Rift Magazine

No bullshit. 20 Dollar Love are a trio from Minnesota that plays good humored, hard rockin’ boogie ‘n’ roll, built from the blocks of raunchy, blues based rock. Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, AC/DC, The Stooges, all that good shit. It’s hip shakin’ stuff, played to make the ladies work up a sweat and get the fellas rowdy. I’ll bet bars sell a whole lot of booze during their live sets. The band play well off of one another, sounding like three bodies attached to the same mother brain.–Ari Jaffe, Transformonline.com

Like an unholy cross between Ted Nugent, the Cramps and Motörhead — some seriously butt-kicking, attitude-spewing rock ‘n’ roll, in other words — 20 Dollar Love kicks out its second album and first for Crustacean Records, “High Dr.,” with a release party tonight at the Triple Rock. The trio’s growling frontman Nate Pischke pretty well sounds fixated on getting it on, in libidinous songs such as the title track and “The New National Anthem.” He deserves as much with all the swagger and sweat he poured into it.–Chris Riemenschneider, Star Tribune

20 Dollar Love‘s “Big Sexy” has more of a standard “let’s get drunk, and uh, fuck while we’re drunk and then drink more” sort of feel”—ScottGordonwww.avclub.com/twincities
