Hope everyone’s Christmas travels and times were fun and full of frivolity! I’m heading down to the troll chamber tomorrow to drop in a new toy – a Focusrite ISA215, one of which we had a while back and now I’m happy to say we’ll have again. Two sweet channels of preamp/eq goodness from back when Focusrite wasn’t a minion of Digidesign. Oh industry monopolies/software slavocracy.
In other Tuesday news, Signaturetone perennial favorites 20 Dollar Love are swinging by to lay down a Quincy Punks cover for a big local band compilation (which I’ll be sequencing and mastering as well – more info on that soon). Prepare for the rock to be brought with the usual sweat and swagger.
We’ll be working with a few other groups this week, including finishing up some mix/master for hippy-hop flavormaster Derek Smith aka Modern Sunshine . This stuff is super well written and produced, so get ready to get a mouthful of smile as he gears up for a big two month tour starting in January. Keep an ear peeled!
More to come, 2010’s looking to be seeing some big records coming out of Signaturetone! These include discs from two bands that will remain nameless for now that will hopefully round out my trifecta of “metal bands that need to be signed to real labels” that I discovered when I first moved up here five (six?) years ago. You know who you are, kidz, time to get famous.

(Picture of the day – gross amounts of mics. Name them all and I’ll give you the “Saddest Little Person” award for all your hard earned dork knowledge)
Hey folks, we’re officially open for business in our new Wordpress format. Poke around and let me know if you’re getting any weird things happening, and definitely check out the tunes, pics, and the first spewings of my brain onto the collective consciousness that is the internet from my bastion of power (basement troll studioville population: 1 lonely engineer).

Big shout out to Estate, one of my favorite Minneapolis acts, who just recently stopped by to cut some tracks for a few upcoming songs. Everybody keep your ears peeled on The Current 89.3 for one or both of them, I see nothing but good stuff coming this band’s way. Plus, they’re mandudes of the highest order. Mucho fist bumps and shimmy hips to Dan, Josh, and Jesse, go get ‘em boyz.

Welcome to the new Signaturetone Recording website! We’ve decided since we love our bands that a more interconnected and artist centered format was the way to go. Look for shows and twitter updates from Signaturetone clients and friends as well as news, gear lust updates, and miscellaneous rantings from Adam and Dave’s crazybrains. Big big thanks to Kyle Reicks for making this great new page! Scotch and high fives coming soon, buddy…

Signaturetone is gearing up for a killer autumn season – we’ve got a City Pages interview en route, two new amps in to play with (aCornford Hellcat 35w head and a Soldano SLO 100w head), and plenty of new and returning clients pumping out great material. Head on over to The Sextons page to check out what Adam’s been up to with one of his bands, and make sure to hit up The Angle Obscure for tracks off their soon to be released disc and info about TUCKERfest (ridiculous, yes yes) at The Triple Rock October 3rd. A big thanks to all the bands involved for being such rad people and letting me help them put out some great records!
Shirts and stickers coming soon for everyone looking to support Signaturetone (and of course show off their intense hipness).

Much new goodness abounds! Albums by Torch The Spires, The Angle Obscure, The Drug Budget, The Sextons, The Van Gobots, and the Adam Meckler Quintet (featuring Adam Linz, Greg Schutte, Brandon Wozniak, and Zacc Harris) are dropping soon – all are ridiculous. New samples are up right now and more are incoming.
A tasty new gear arrival – our new Soundelux U95 tube mic and the mighty Manley Vari-Mu tube limiter, which has been featured on several recordings already and more to come. Yours next perhaps?
Remember, if you’re reading this you are officially invited to come visit us and talk recording and rock and roll. Drop me a line or visit our Myspace to set it up!
